Developmental therapy involves lots of hands-on experience. We help children, teens and adults become more independent and involved in their community. We do this by working with individuals to develop their skills for daily living, socialization, self-help and communication.
The purpose of the program is to teach and maintain life skills to the degree where they are functional. To accomplish this goal most of the skills training will occur at the participant’s home or in the community. Center based groups help the participant learn how to cook, and teach the participant social skills. Each participant enrolled in this program will help develop an individual written plan based on his/her own needs, goals, preferences, and interests. Once a program is developed, the participant is placed in as normal a situation as possible and the least restrictive alternative will be used.
